The LCHS Boys JV Basketball team was able to cling onto victory tonight with a 56-55 win over the Freedom Eagles. Freedom tied the game with about 6 seconds left, but sophomore Luke Brenner was fouled while dribbling down the court with 0.4 seconds left and since it was the tenth team foul on Freedom, the Raiders were awarded two free throws. Brenner, who had been injured earlier in the game, stepped to the line and knocked down the first free throw to give the Raiders a one-point lead. The second free throw was missed, and Freedom had an opportunity for a last-second heave at the basket, which drew some rim, but with only 0.4 seconds left, their attempt came after the final horn had sounded.
The Raiders were led offensively by freshman Augie Brody (14 points, including 4 three pointers). They also got 10 points from freshman Caleb Rexroad, 9 points from sophomore Harrison Bradford, and 8 points each from Brenner and fellow sophomore Tommy Daughtrey.
The Raiders, who are now 6-0 this season, are back in action on Monday night when they travel to Purcellville to take on the Woodgrove Wolverines.
